Dinwiddie County Public Schools will submit its student-led Fall Fest project for the Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA) excellence and workforce readiness award, after the board approved the application during the meeting.
Staff described Fall Fest as a student-run event that organized teams mirroring business functions (finance, marketing, planning and project management). Students developed budgets, engaged community stakeholders, executed marketing, and led troubleshooting during the event. Staff said the project drew over 350 attendees and raised more than $1,100 for community causes. The presentation described the event as aligned with workforce-readiness competencies identified by the Virginia Department of Education.
A board member moved approval to submit the VSBA workforce readiness application; the motion passed by voice vote.
