The Sweetwater City Council approved an ordinance May 20 finding it necessary to vacate portions of city streets and alley rights‑of‑way in the Southside addition of Sweetwater.
Mayor Peake opened and closed a public hearing on the proposed abandonment after no one spoke for or against the item. Council then voted to approve the ordinance, which the mayor read into the record. The ordinance describes vacated portions of Florida Avenue (from the east right‑of‑way of Sam Houston Street), portions of Bell Street, parts of P Street and all alley rights‑of‑way in several blocks of the Southside addition, as recorded in Nolan County plat records (cabinet, slide 32B).
City staff said the public hearing produced no commenters and there was no further discussion before the council approved the ordinance by voice vote.
