Planning panel approves sign variances for dual‑brand hotel at 482 Bliss Street

City planning staff (Mister Lisonbee) presented renderings showing wall-mounted signs for two hotel brands on the front and rear elevations plus a freestanding sign facing Bliss Street. Staff said the site is in a B‑3 general business district near the Eagle Pass Golf Course and that the proposal is a dual‑brand Hawthorne/La Quinta development, which is the reason the applicant requested additional branded signage on multiple facades.

The sign ordinance generally limits the number of wall signs and caps aggregate signage area; staff said the ordinance’s typical aggregate limit is 250 square feet for this context and the applicant asked to increase allowed signage to roughly 438 square feet and to add signs beyond the two normally permitted.
