Commission recommends update to subdivision fees; forwards ordinance to council

Eagle Pass, Texas — The Planning and Zoning Commission on Feb. 27 voted to recommend that City Council adopt an ordinance updating the City of Eagle Pass subdivision schedule of rates and fees in Chapter 23.
Staff said the fee revisions are intended to bring application and review fees closer to the city’s actual costs for inspections, plan review and administrative intake. The item had been discussed previously and staff presented the same fee schedule for formal recommendation. Commissioners asked no substantive questions during the brief presentation and the commission voted to forward the ordinance to City Council for consideration.
Why it matters: Fee adjustments can affect development costs for builders and developers and are part of the city’s effort to recover administrative costs. Council will consider the ordinance at a future meeting.
