Council rejects IT proposals, extends existing contract month-to-month and reopens RFP to attract more bidders

The Eagle Pass City Council voted to reject received proposals for IT management services, extend the incumbent firm’s contract on a month-to-month basis and to reopen the request for proposals (RFP) to attract additional competitive bids.
Staff said the solicitation produced two proposals; a review panel recommended extending the existing contract with the incumbent, InterDev, while re-advertising the RFP to increase competition. Councilman Diaz’s motion, amended during discussion, directed staff to formally reject the present proposals, put InterDev on a month-to-month extension to avoid service interruption and to reopen the RFP with broader outreach.
Officials noted InterDev has provided services for roughly five years and recently installed security hardware. Council discussed advertisement strategies and the need to ensure uninterrupted IT services during the rebid and negotiation process. The motion passed unanimously.
Staff said they will reopen the solicitation with more aggressive advertising and bring back results once new proposals are received and evaluated.
