Yakima County commissioners review consent items and human services contract modifications in work session

Yakima County commissioners on May 8 reviewed a set of consent items and several human-services contract modifications during a work session but did not take formal action at that meeting.

Julie, the clerk of the board, read the consent and regular-agenda items for commissioners to review. “Under consent items, we have auditor accounts payable warrant approval issue date 04/30/2025. Commissioner, we have resolution 1052025, appointing members to the Veterans Advisory Committee. Corporate counsel agreement 1632025, interlocal agreement between Benton County and Yakima County for autopsy services. Facility services resolution 1022025, accepting as complete the Yakima County Stadium 2025 improvements project,” Julie said.

Julie also listed human-resources and human-services items, including budgeted position changes in multiple departments and modifications to contracts funded from opiate-settlement and other sources. She said the board would consider: resolution 10032025 and resolution 1042025 for position adjustments in departments including the sales tax clerk’s office, the prosecuting attorney’s office and district court; technology-services position changes via resolution 1042025; and a range of human-services agreement modifications. Those modifications included a scope update for a 2025 opiate settlement contract with Triumph Treatment Services and multiple changes to contracts with Northwest Community Action Center and Rods House covering eviction prevention, rental assistance, extreme winter weather shelter, outreach, capital improvements and shelter operations for 2025.

“Agreement 01/2025, modification number 1 to the 2025 opiate settlement funds contract with Triumph Treatment Services to update the scope of work,” Julie read. She further summarized contract adjustments that increased funding in some Rods House contracts and consolidated capital funding into a year‑1 capital contract while noting a de‑obligation in one Northwest Community Action Center contract based on updated grantee needs.

Julie also noted two regular-agenda accounts-payable warrant approvals for McKinney Glass would appear on the commissioners’ Tuesday agenda.

Commissioners did not propose changes to the Tuesday agenda during the work session. At the end of the session a commissioner moved to adjourn; the motion was seconded and the board voted aye to adjourn.

No committee votes, ordinance readings or contract awards were completed at the May 8 work session; the meeting served as an agenda review and briefing on items scheduled for action at upcoming meetings.
