Commissioner Curtis said the party “met last night to submit, 3 names” and asked the board how it preferred to proceed. Commissioners discussed options: holding 20‑minute interviews, reviewing resumes at a noticed work session, or making a direct appointment.
Commissioner Lindy said she was prepared to make a decision without interviews, citing personal observations of a candidate. Commissioner McKinney said he also had someone in mind but was open to interviews. Julie Lawrence, clerk of the board, agreed to add the item to a Monday work session so commissioners could review candidate materials.
Stephanie Wigan, corporate counsel, recommended placing the item on a noticed agenda rather than treating it as unplanned new business and noted that human resources had prepared interview questions if the board chose to conduct interviews.
No formal appointment or vote was taken at the May 15 work session. The board scheduled time at the next work session for commissioners to review resumes and decide whether to interview nominees or appoint a coroner.
