The Somerset County Board of Commissioners voted during its Feb. 11 work session to add resolutions 25‑400 through 25‑465 and 25‑378 through 25‑383 to the consent agenda for the board’s Feb. 25 regular meeting.
The additions include a long list of contract awards, shared‑service agreements, grant certifications and administrative items that the board will consider en bloc at its February regular meeting. Commissioners said the consent additions are routine but include several higher‑value projects that will proceed if the full board approves them on Feb. 25.
Among the items read into the record were a federally funded bridge rehabilitation award to CMS Construction for County Bridge KO‑607 (New Brunswick Road over Allesbrook in Franklin Township) not to exceed $1,815,661.50; a design contract for replacement of the Colonial Park playground in Franklin Township to Pinone Associates not to exceed $105,700 (funded from ARP); multiple appraiser and environmental‑assessment contracts for open‑space and farmland acquisitions (typically on an as‑needed basis, not to exceed $20,000–$40,000 per vendor); and several shared‑service agreements, including juvenile detention housing and education services with Middlesex County for a total not to exceed $104,885.70 for specified 2025 services.
The reading also included administrative and service contracts such as elevator maintenance to Schindler Elevator Corporation (not to exceed $128,020), inspection and testing services for sprinkler and alarm systems, meal purchase contracts for county programs (Whitsons and others), and a range of smaller purchase orders and confirmations for fuel, salt, recycling services and copier rentals.
The board’s presentation identified the appointment of Himanshi Bhat Patel as Somerset County Health Officer under N.J.S.A. 26:3‑82.14, effective March 1, 2025, and the reappointment of Lisa Warner as County Coordinator under N.J.S.A. 9:9‑42.1 for a three‑year term ending Feb. 11, 2028. Several cultural‑and‑heritage grant certifications were also included: up to $200,000 for the local arts program and up to $63,750 for county history partnership grants.
A motion to add resolutions 25‑400 through 25‑465 to the Feb. 25 consent agenda passed on a roll call recorded in the meeting; a separate motion to add resolutions 25‑378–25‑383 to the agenda also passed. No substantive debate on the individual contracts occurred during the work session; the items will be subject to the board’s formal vote at the Feb. 25 meeting.
Notable clarifications read into the record: the bridge rehabilitation contract is federally funded; the Colonial Park playground work keeps the current footprint while replacing equipment and surfacing; several appraisals and environmental contracts are on as‑needed lists with individual not‑to‑exceed amounts; and some previously certified funds were rescinded or amended in later entries. The county clerk reported January fee collections of $2,969,479.56 during the meeting.
The board will consider the full consent agenda and any separate motions at its Feb. 25 regular meeting.
