District reports improved teacher retention; support-staff climate needs attention

WARREN CO. R-III staff presented the district’s annual school climate results and recommended quarterly monitoring and building-level review.
A staff member presenting the evaluation said teacher group responses were "mostly green" and described the year as one of improved teacher retention compared with prior years. "That to me is the biggest indicator," the presenter said of teacher retention.
The presenter flagged a decline in building support-staff responses compared with other groups and said the district would dig into those results, review them quarterly as part of an implementation plan and bring findings to principals for follow-up. Administrator responses were described as positive.
Board members had no further questions during the presentation. The district plans to develop a plan over the summer and during the upcoming school year to address support-staff concerns and will report quarterly during the school year.
