The Snohomish County Council Health and Community Services Committee on Tuesday, March 11 moved four motions to the March consent agenda authorizing the county executive to sign agreements for the Community Navigator Program, committee Chair Mead said.
The contracts are funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Immunization COVID‑19 Community Navigator Program grant and, under the terms described to the committee, will employ community navigators to disseminate public health information in culturally relevant formats to marginalized communities and communities with the lowest COVID‑19 vaccination rates in Snohomish County, Cynthia, a health department staff member, said.
The health department told the committee it is seeking to contract with Project Girl Mentoring, the Marshallese Association, the Korean Community Services Center and Oceania Northwest to provide the navigator services. The committee took no roll-call vote; Chair Mead asked for objections to placing the items on the consent agenda and, "seeing none, we will move all 4 of these items to March consent agenda," the chair said. Cynthia concluded, "I'm available for your questions."
