Walla Walla County commissioners on May 12 approved a resolution permitting the Cascade Bicycle Club’s Walla Walla Tour to use county roads during a multi-day recreational bicycle event scheduled May 16–18.
Public-works staff told the board the organizers obtained required permits and insurance and coordinated routing with other events, including the Onionman, to avoid conflicts. Roads identified for the ride include Stateline, Gardena Road, Mission and Stovell, among others; staff said the organizers worked with county staff on safe routing and timing.
Commissioners approved the resolution unanimously and reminded motorists to exercise caution and "share the road" while the event is underway.
The approval is a standard permit-based authorization; public-works staff said road closures will be limited to event control points and that organizers will follow the county’s traffic-safety rules for special events.
