Council approves $43,329 amendment for Snohomish River Regional Trail design work

The council unanimously approved Motion 25-181 authorizing an amendment that adds $43,329 and extends a professional services agreement for additional alignment analysis on the Snohomish River Regional Trail.
Council staff presented and the Snohomish County Council approved Motion 25-181 on April 2 to authorize the county executive to execute Amendment No. 1 to the professional services agreement with Tool Design Group LLC for the Snohomish River Regional Trail Design and Development Project.
Ryan Himberry, council staff, told the council that the original contract (Motion 24-130, signed April 2024) anticipated evaluation of three alignment options. As design work progressed, staff and the consultant identified additional alignment and sub-alignment options that required further analysis. "This additional analysis required a higher level of effort to complete than was initially assumed and caused the schedule to be extended another seven months," Himberry said.
Himberry said Parks negotiated a fee supplement and time extension; the amendment would add $43,329 to the agreement and extend the contract to Dec. 31, 2025. He said Parks has funding available for the amendment in its current capital budget.
A motion to approve was made and seconded; the council voted unanimously in favor.
No amendments to the motion were recorded during the meeting, and the council did not request further changes to scope during the session.
