Committee forwards $5.09 million in PUD privilege‑tax apportionment to full council

Jim Martin, council staff, told the committee the county receives funds representing the privilege tax derived from the Snohomish County Public Utility District’s sale of electric energy within the county. After the incorporated cities and towns receive their distributions, the county’s share is $5,086,067.54, which staff said represents 55% of the amount budgeted for the 2025‑2026 biennium.
“Requested action is to move to GLS on May 21 for consideration,” Martin said. The committee did not take a formal vote; members advanced the motion to the General Legislative Session consent agenda for May 21.
No amendments or objections were recorded during the committee discussion. The committee did not request additional documentation beyond the GLS packet; any final apportionment and acceptance of funds will be resolved by the full council at GLS.
