Council schedules Feb. 19 hearing on ordinance to correct Comprehensive Plan effective dates

The Snohomish County Council voted 5-0 Jan. 28 to set a public hearing for Ordinance 25-010, a curative ordinance to correct clerical errors in effective dates for three amended ordinances related to the 2024 Comprehensive Plan update. The hearing is scheduled for Feb. 19, 2025, at 10:30 a.m.
Council staff explained that Ordinance 25-010 would retroactively adopt corrected effective dates for amended Ordinances 24-031, 24-032 and 24-033. Staff said the amendments were adopted during the 2024 update to the county Comprehensive Plan and that the corrected dates are needed for compliance with the Growth Management Act and the statutory requirements cited in the staff report.
For the record, Ryan Countryman, council staff, told the council the transcription error occurred between adoption of the amendments and the final ordinances. The requested action was to set the date and time for a public hearing so the council and public can consider the curative ordinance.
A council member moved to set the hearing date; the motion was seconded and approved without further discussion. The chair announced the motion passed 5-0. The council noted there are no executive sessions on the agenda and recessed until the 11 a.m. committee meeting.
