Snohomish County Council schedules Feb. 19 public hearing to correct Title 13 coding errors

The Snohomish County Council voted 5-0 Jan. 28 to set a public hearing for Ordinance 25-006, which would correct inadvertent errors in Title 13 of the Snohomish County Code and restore omitted subsections. The hearing is scheduled for Feb. 19, 2025, at 10:30 a.m.
Council staff said Ordinance 25-006 would amend Snohomish County Code 13.11.010 to restore subsections 5 through 8 that were omitted during the codification of Ordinance 21-032, adopted in July 2021. The staff report described the corrections as curative housekeeping to resolve the omission and to add a punctuation correction at the end of subsection 8.
The staff presentation summarized the origin of the problem: during codification of the 2021 ordinance that changed requirements for utilities in county road rights of way, subsections were inadvertently left out of the published code. The requested council action was limited to setting time and date for a public hearing so the public can comment on the proposed corrections.
A motion to set the hearing date was made, seconded and approved without discussion. The roll call at the outset of the administrative session showed five council members present, and the chair announced the motion passed 5-0.
The council moved items A through Z and items BB to the Governmental and Legislative Services (GLS) committee for consideration, and the ordinance will return to the council for the public hearing and any subsequent action after public comment and committee review.
