Snohomish County Council approves resolutions, surplus vehicle donations, budget transfers and appointments

The Snohomish County Council took a series of routine and semi-routine actions Feb. 26, approving recognition resolutions, donations of surplus vehicles, budget transfers and an appointment.
Resolutions: The council approved a proclamation recognizing March 2025 as Women’s History Month and March 8, 2025, as International Women’s Day in Snohomish County (Resolution 25-005). The council also approved a resolution recognizing March 2025 as Red Cross Month in Snohomish County (Resolution 25-006). Janice Ellis spoke in support of the Red Cross resolution and relayed greetings from Alexander Newman, executive director of the Red Cross’s Northwest Region.
Consent, administrative and committee items: The council approved the consent agenda and administrative matters (motion 25-116) and approved Action-on-Committee items as presented.
Donations and surplus vehicles: The county approved three surplus vehicle donations reviewed by Health and Human Services and Facilities and Fleet:
- Motion 25-105: transfer a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu to the Washington West African Center (motion passed 4–1). - Motion 25-106: transfer a 2017 Ford Fusion to the Holman Recovery Center (motion passed 5–0). - Motion 25-107: transfer a 2017 Ford Fusion to North County’s Family Services (motion passed unanimously).
Other administrative actions: The council approved a one-year extension to the vessel registration fee distribution agreement with the City of Everett (Motion 25-090), a budget transfer of $12,000 to district court fund 130 for a short-term pretrial services pilot in Arlington (Motion 25-103), and a Superior Court 2024 budget transfer moving funds from pending grants and reallocating $230,000 between Superior Court programs (Motion 25-111); all three motions passed unanimously as recorded.
Appointment: The council confirmed the reappointment of Susan Lakey to the Snohomish County Developmental Disability Citizen Advisory Board for a three-year term, with council amending the enacting clause so her new term begins March 24, 2025 (Motion 25-108). The amendment and underlying confirmation passed unanimously.
Executive session: The council recessed into an executive session under RCW 42.30.110(1)(i) to discuss pending litigation; the chair announced no action would follow the session.

Why it matters: The votes enact symbolic recognitions, reallocate modest county resources to community organizations and courts, confirm a citizen advisory board appointment and set up administrative steps for capital and program work.
