A staff presenter said the revision reflects legal counsel guidance and clarifies that the school board retains ultimate authority for approval of purchases exceeding the stated threshold. A board member requested a simple tracking mechanism—such as a spreadsheet—so trustees can monitor larger purchases that do not otherwise require board-level approval under the new text.
Separately, staff announced plans to review secondary math textbook offerings for grades 6 through Algebra II from three providers: STEMScopes, Mathspace and Kiddom. Teachers will receive physical textbook samples and online access to pilot lessons; board members were invited to join the adoption committee, which will use a mix of in-person and virtual review sessions.
Board members approved the DJR regulation changes by voice vote and heard that the textbook review will proceed with committee volunteers and scheduled review sessions.
