During the opening portion of the meeting Chair Arsenovic asked the clerk to call the roll and then proposed adding a short agenda item to discuss candidate information that had been posted on the school division website. A motion to add the discussion passed; Mr. Drew moved and Mr. Anderson seconded the motion, and the board approved it.
Board members described the item as a liability and privacy concern rather than a transparency issue. The chair said the division had received a complaint from a candidate about personally identifiable information and that the division had already temporarily redacted portions of the webpage when concerns were raised. The board agreed to await written guidance from the county attorney and, if necessary, to reach out to candidates about their permission to post personal details. Until the attorney’s advice is received, the information will remain as posted.
The board did not take further formal action on candidate data at the work session; administration was directed to obtain legal guidance and to contact candidates for preferences on release or redaction if recommended by counsel.
