Several board members objected to the password language on privacy and process grounds and asked staff to confirm whether the wording is mandated by state law or VSBA model text.
Policy manager Mr. Hartley (staff) confirmed the VSBA templates and noted the board’s option to request legal review. Multiple board members asked staff to consult the county attorney and the VSBA attorney subscription to confirm intent and legality. The board adopted the package as read while leaving the CLA item for further review; staff said they would return with edits or legal advice for the board to consider.
No immediate personnel action resulted; the board directed staff to check statutory references and the VSBA model language, and to return CLA and any proposed changes to GAD wording for board consideration in a future meeting.
