The City of Nicholasville authorized the mayor to sign a contract with Catalyst to provide electronic payment services for property taxes and other city payments, Lori said at Monday’s meeting. The platform will accept debit and credit cards, e-checks and digital wallets and is intended to allow taxpayers and customers to pay online rather than in-person.
Lori said the contract will allow integration with the city’s accounting software so payment records can be downloaded automatically, reducing manual data entry in the tax office. She estimated an integration-preparation cost under $5,000 and said Catalyst’s vendor estimate was likely closer to $3,000 but the city used a conservative figure. Commissioners approved the authorization by roll call.
Staff said the change will make it easier for residents to pay taxes and will save staff time; the finance and tax office will work through implementation details and timing for launch.
