Denison on Ice posts record season at new downtown location with 11,605 skaters

Recreation staff reported that the 2024–25 Denison on Ice season, held at a new downtown location at 111 West Main, recorded 11,605 skaters and 14,396 total attendees. The season opened Nov. 16 and closed Jan. 5 with no weather closures; staff said there were 11 high-attendance days with more than 350 participants.
Staff said they hosted 32 private and school special events this season (up from 19 last year), and that 39 U.S. states and two countries were represented among visitors. The daily average for skaters was 242, staff said.
Programming highlights included adaptive and sensory-friendly skating every Saturday from noon to 1 p.m., themed nights, partnerships with the school district for events such as a princess night and a vendor pilot that included food and coffee trucks. Staff said they plan to increase programs and vendor partnerships next season, enabled in part by additional electrical infrastructure installed at the new site.
Commissioners had no objections to the report and thanked staff for the update.
