Council continues hearing on 6.2-acre Harbor Road site rezoning for electrical substation

Mary Tate, director of development services for the city of Denison, told the council Monday that Encore has requested a rezone for a 6.2-acre tract identified as GCAD ID 101027, located south of Harbor Road and west of Texoma Drive, to allow an electrical substation.
Tate said the tract lies within the Preston Harbor Planned Development District, and that the original plan development standards omitted electrical substations as an allowed use. "This is a formality to make sure that we get electric to that property," she said, and staff have received a preliminary site plan showing access; the applicant will be required to meet screening, landscaping and other submittal requirements.
The applicant was not present Monday. The council opened the public hearing and voted to continue the hearing to March 3 at 6 p.m. so the applicant can appear. Mayor Pro Tem Adams made the motion to continue; Dr. Korotwright seconded. The motion carried on a voice vote.
No zoning change was adopted Monday; the matter will return to a future council meeting for further hearing and possible action.
