Freeport council approves consent agenda, tables port cost-sharing item; finance report, Riverfest set

Councilman Matamotis moved to approve the consent agenda, which included the minutes of the April 7, 2025 meeting, a road closure for Saint Mary's Star of the Sea on June 22, 2025, and traffic-control support for a community outreach distribution event April 26, 2025. Councilman Raso seconded the motion and the council approved it by unanimous voice vote.
Councilman Matamotis moved to table agenda item 4B after staff and council members noted the draft paperwork included a shared cost for a waterline relocation that, Matamotis said, does not mirror the agreement with the Port of Freeport. Matamotis said the port had been notified; the motion to table carried unanimously.
In presentations, city finance staff identified in the meeting as Miss Hurst (also transcribed as Miss Hirsch) delivered the quarterly investment report covering Jan. 1'March 31, 2025, saying the city's total portfolio was about $29.1 million and that funds were handled according to PFIA policy. Council members asked whether there were any cash losses; Hurst said no losses were reported in the cash-reporting period. City Manager Lance Petty announced the Freeport Riverfest for Saturday, April 26, with boat races and a barbecue cook-off.
Council voted to table the port item and then recessed into executive session later in the agenda.
