Officials said the contractor's trucks are equipped with cameras and GPS and that the landfill maintains complaint records that the parish and contractor can use to enforce contract terms. The mayor suggested taking the issue to the police jury if necessary because the parish collects the tax that funds the service.
No formal motion or change to the contract was made during the meeting. Council members offered to meet with parish officials and suggested constituent callers log complaints to create a paper trail for enforcement.
