The Sussex County Board of County Commissioners issued a proclamation on April 23 recognizing Norwescap (NW Jersey Community Action Partnership Inc.) on its 60th anniversary for providing services aimed at economic stability and self-sufficiency.
Deputy Director Jill Space read the proclamation, which praised the agency as one of 23 community action agencies in New Jersey and one of more than 1,000 nationwide, and credited Norwescap's programs in health, education, employment and community services for helping low-income households in Sussex County over six decades.
Sean Hyland, community development project manager at Norwescap, accepted the proclamation and said, "We're honored to be able to serve the communities and residents, especially our most vulnerable in Sussex County. We're honored to have done it for 60 years and we look forward to another 60 years." The board and attendees offered thanks and congratulations.
Ending: The proclamation is on record with the county; no formal county funding action was taken at the meeting.
