Harrisonville aldermen approve special-use and rezoning ordinances; table zoning amendment

At its meeting the Board of Aldermen took final votes on three land-use items: it approved a special-use permit allowing contractor’s yard and vehicle storage on several parcels, approved a rezoning and preliminary development plan to convert a former nursing home site to apartments, and voted to table a proposed zoning-text amendment until the board's next meeting.

Council Bill 05, a special-use permit allowing contractor’s yard and vehicle storage at multiple parcels (including addresses listed in the packet such as 402 Cedar Street and several North Independence and North Lexington parcels), was approved on a motion from Alderman Turner with a second from Alderman Mills. Roll call was 6–0 in favor with Aldermen Dorhof and Chaney excused; the ordinance was recorded as Ordinance 37015.

Council Bill 06, approving a rezoning to R-P-3 and a preliminary development plan for the redevelopment of the former nursing home at 307 East South Street into 15 apartment units with plans for up to five future fourplex structures, passed on a motion from Alderman Fouch (second Alderman Milner). The roll-call vote was 6–0 with Aldermen Dorhof and Cheney excused; the measure became Ordinance 3716.

Council Bill 04, a proposed amendment to Section 405.573.a0.5 of the Harrisonville Municipal Code (a zoning-text amendment under Title 4), was moved to table by Alderman Mills and seconded by Alderman Franklin; the board voted to table the item until the next meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 18 so that absent members and the public could have additional time to review and comment. The roll-call vote to table was 6–0 with two aldermen excused.

Each of the votes was recorded by roll call in the meeting minutes and the city clerk announced ordinance and resolution numbers where applicable. No public speakers addressed these agenda items during the meeting.
