The Harrisonville Board of Aldermen on April 7 adopted an ordinance vacating portions of rights-of-way associated with the Royal Street extension project, approving the measure as Ordinance No. 3719.
Mayor Mike Ziering presided as Alderman Chaney made the motion to approve the reading of council bill 10 and Alderman Fouch seconded. Christina, a city staff member in the planning department, summarized the measure as an action to vacate certain right-of-way adjacent to Lots 5, 6 and 8 (transcript references) tied to the Royal Street extension project and located in Venture Subdivision.
The board voted by roll call. Aldermen Chaney, Fouch, Franklin, Davidson, Milner, Mills and Turner each voted “aye.” Alderman Doerhoff was excused. The clerk recorded the ordinance as 3719.
The ordinance text read on the floor described the vacated areas as related to the Royal Street extension project and referenced parcels adjacent to Lots 5, 6 and 8 of the Venture Subdivision in Cass County; the read title appears in the public packet and was entered into the record at the meeting. Christina said staff had received calls and questions but “no one with any real concerns or comments,” and the board moved directly to a roll-call vote.
With the vote, the city’s legal record will reflect the vacation of the described right-of-way; the transcript shows the standard second reading and roll call on April 7 leading to adoption. The ordinance becomes effective in accordance with the language included in the final adopted text.
Officials did not discuss further implementation details during the meeting; any next steps such as deeding, surveying or easement recording would follow the city’s standard administrative process for vacated rights-of-way.
