The Harrisonville Board of Aldermen approved a rezoning that converts 32.88 acres south of Matt Street in the East Elm Estate area from Agriculture A district to Single-Family Residential R-1, and the bill was enacted as Ordinance 3720.
City planning staff told the board the parcel lies east of Meadowview subdivision and west of the Villas of Eastern Hills subdivision in Cass County. Christina, planning staff, said she had received no additional correspondence on the item and noted that the preliminary plat for the project was approved at a prior meeting. "I haven't had any other emails or correspondence on this item," Christina said, and added staff saw no reason the rezoning should not be approved.
The board approved the motion to adopt the rezoning on a roll call vote. Alderman Fouch moved to approve; Alderman Milner seconded. The recorded vote was: Alderman Fouch — yes; Alderman Milner — yes; Alderman Chaney — yes; Alderman Franklin — yes; Alderman Turner — yes; Alderman Doorhauf — yes; Alderman Mills — yes. Alderman Davidson was recorded as excused. Following the vote the mayor announced, "Council bill 12 is now ordinance 3720."
The staff report presented to the board referenced the property's location within the city's planning areas and indicated the rezoning follows the previously approved preliminary plat. No public comments were offered during the meeting on the rezoning, and no amendments were proposed at the time of the vote.
The ordinance updates the official zoning designation for the described parcels; the file materials cited by staff included the preliminary plat previously approved by the planning process. The board did not specify additional conditions in the motion adopting the rezoning.
The ordinance will be recorded as part of the city's zoning map update and the developer may proceed with the project consistent with the R-1 district standards and the approved preliminary plat.
