At the Jan. 16 Harahan City Council meeting, the city delivered its December finance report and the council took procedural action to defer consideration of a planning-and-zoning appointment and the monthly financial report from the finance director.
The secretary’s report for December 2024 showed total revenues of $944,289.44. Council later recorded that bills paid in December 2024 totaled $733,167.18 in expenditures. The council accepted the reports during the meeting; no further budget action was taken on those reports at this session.
Under old business, the council considered a planning-and-zoning board appointment. A council motion to defer the appointment passed on a 5-0 voice vote; the clerk recorded the action. Council members discussed contacting the appointee and verifying continued interest and contact information before bringing the appointment back for a vote.
Under new business, the council deferred the monthly financial report from Finance Director Todd Turnian; council members said the item would be considered at a later meeting. During discussion, one council member clarified that a prior vote on elements of the 2024 budget had covered certain capital and ARPA items and that the council had not yet approved a final total budget figure.
No executive session was held. The council adjourned after a routine motion recorded as 5 yeas, 0 nays.
