Organizers of a city-area food festival briefed the Broussard City Council on March 25 and invited residents to a fundraising event planned for April 13 at the Youngsville Amphitheater.
Charles Sharma, an event organizer, said the Hamburger Festival — expanded this year to include hot dogs — will raise money for the Broussard and Youngsville Police Departments and that the event will run Sunday, April 13, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. “So this year, we’re gonna be raising money for both the Broussard and the Youngsville Police Department,” Sharma said.
Sharma said the event has grown since last year and that organizers expect nearly 25 teams, more than 25 vendors, a kids’ corner and three bands. He introduced Rusty Noel, who will help run judging and prizes; Noel said the organizers added a playful competition between the two police departments and had a championship belt that the winning department can keep for a year.
The council packet included flyers for the event and the council noted the date publicly during closing remarks.
No formal council action was recorded on the event; the item was an informational presentation.
