Bruce Hill council introduces Gypsy Road rezoning, adopts sales-tax ordinance and approves past minutes

At its Feb. 11, 2025 meeting the Bruce Hill City Council voted to introduce an ordinance to rezone several parcels on Gypsy Road from light industrial to community commercial, adopted an ordinance updating the city—s sales and use tax rules, and approved minutes listed on the agenda.

The rezoning measure (Ordinance 25-820) applies to parcels identified in the council packet as 101, 104, 105 and 106 Gypsy Road and was forwarded to the council with a recommendation from the planning commission. Walter, a city staff member, summarized that the applicants had appeared before the planning commission seeking a subdivision and to allow residential uses; the commission recommended approval and the council voted to introduce the rezoning ordinance.

On the final vote of the evening the council adopted Ordinance 25-819, described by city staff as a modification that brings the city—s sales and use tax ordinance into alignment with state procedures and guidance. A council member summarized the change as putting the city "in line with" state rules; city finance staff confirmed that the ordinance follows state sales tax rules.

The council also approved the minutes listed on the agenda for prior meetings (the packet item lists the minutes for 07/29/2025 and 01/29/2025). No public comments were recorded on these items during the meeting, and each motion carried with the recorded voting positions in favor.
