Council authorizes mayor to execute act of dedication after form review

The Broussard City Council on Feb. 25 approved a resolution to authorize the mayor to execute an act of dedication for a private gated subdivision once the final form is approved by city reviewers and counsel.
Gerald, a staff member, said city staff "have a draft of an act of dedication, and what we're doing here is giving the mayor authority to execute an act of dedication once he approves the form. And we just wanna make sure the form, it complies with or recognizes some of the regulations and rules that we have, within, you know, for for subdivision development, especially as it relates to streets and taking over maintenance and things of that sort." He said the mayor will sign the act after final review.
Mel confirmed that staff have inspected the subdivision and generated a punch list; most items have been addressed but the gate remains outstanding. Staff told the council they will require a commitment that certificates of occupancy will not be issued until the gate is in place and that the developer (not the city) will be responsible for perpetual maintenance of the gate and private streets.
There was no public comment. The council called the question and members representing Districts 2, 3, 5 and 6 voted yes; the motion was approved.
