City launches online permits and licensing portal; staff say no service fee

A city permitting and licensing portal went live last week, a staff presentation to the council said on Feb. 11, allowing residents and contractors to apply, pay and print permits online without visiting City Hall.
The system allows users to apply as a guest or create an account to retain application history. The portal supports annual license renewals, upload of proof of insurance and licensing documents, payment processing, and an approval workflow that shows permit status as red/green for inspectors. Staff said the portal generates alerts to inspectors and can schedule inspections; no service fee will be charged for online transactions.
Officials said the portal is intended to improve convenience for contractors and residents who previously had to download PDFs and hand-deliver forms. A future enhancement under consideration is online payment for some code-enforcement fines such as grass-cutting fees.
