Culpeper County Board honors long-serving administrator John C. Eggertson on retirement

The Culpeper County Board of Supervisors presented a resolution on Feb. 4, 2025, honoring County Administrator John C. Eggertson on the occasion of his retirement effective Jan. 31, 2025.
The resolution, read aloud during the meeting, credited Eggertson with 37 years of public service to Culpeper County and listed his service history, including roles as a planning technician, zoning administrator and planning and zoning director before becoming county administrator in April 2016. The resolution noted Eggertson’s involvement in infrastructure and economic development projects such as the county airport expansion, the Carver Center, the technical education facility referred to as CTEC, the county field house, a proposed county pool and the Culpeper Battlefield State Park.
The resolution also recognized Eggertson’s service on multiple local committees and boards, including the town-and-county interaction committee, human services board, Chamber of Commerce, Piedmont workforce development and public safety-related boards, and praised his leadership during periods of growth and change.
Receiving the resolution, Eggertson thanked the board, county employees and his family. “I am very grateful for all the opportunities that I’ve had over the 37 years that I worked for Culpeper County,” he said. He added that county employees “really do all the work” and thanked his wife and daughter for their support.
The resolution was adopted and presented by the board at the Feb. 4 meeting as an expression of appreciation for Eggertson’s service to the county.
