The Silver Falls School District board voted unanimously to adopt the 2025–26 school calendar as presented.
Tony (calendar lead) summarized the change: the calendar retains the proposed September start and June end dates but replaces six half‑day early releases with three full professional development days, which district staff said increases total professional development seat time by about 10 hours and concentrates PD early in the year to support an updated literacy curriculum rollout.
Board members discussed tradeoffs including parent planning and secondary staff needs for data analysis time. Administrators said building‑level schedule adjustments and discussions with transportation could allow the secondary schools to preserve data work time without wholesale changes to bus routing.
Motion: A board member moved to adopt the 2025–26 calendar as presented; the board approved the calendar unanimously.
Ending: The adopted calendar will be published for families; administrators said schools will continue work on internal scheduling to maximize the new PD days’ usefulness.
