Planning staff (Ray) reported May 12 that the third draft of the National Register nomination for the Chautauqua Park and Ridgewood neighborhoods has been submitted to the State Historic Preservation Office for review.
Ray said the nomination will not go to the June state nominations review committee as originally anticipated; the state requested technical revisions and raised questions about including Brookside Park in the nomination boundary. Staff and the consultant discussed the items with the state; Brookside Park will not be included in the boundaries. Ray also said the state asked for clarifications on how the nomination classifies properties as conforming or nonconforming and on the criteria used in certain determinations. Staff will revise the nomination package to address the state’s technical comments and resubmit it to the state for scheduling on a future nominations committee agenda.
No formal action was taken; the commission received the update and asked staff for follow-up information on the specific technical revisions.
