Atlantic County proclaims April 6–12, 2025 as National Crime Victims Rights Week; prosecutor's office recognized victims' survivors

The Atlantic County Board of Commissioners moved and adopted a resolution declaring April 6–12, 2025, as National Crime Victims Rights Week in Atlantic County and recognizing services for victims of crime.
Commissioner Maureen Kern, sponsor of the resolution, read the title and highlighted an April 9 virtual workshop presented by the Brain Injury Alliance of New Jersey. "A ceremony will take place to recognize victim survivors for their continued work in the community and their resiliency," Kern said while reading the resolution text.
John Flammer (identified in the meeting as chief counsel to Atlantic County Prosecutor William Reynolds) spoke for the prosecutor's office and thanked the board for the resolution. "We truly thank you for this resolution recognizing National Crime Victims Rights Week," Flammer said. He described his work as a special victims prosecutor and recounted a 2014 case that devastated the Egg Harbor City community. Flammer said the Papp family, victims in that case, would be recognized by the prosecutor's office on April 11 as part of the week's events.
Flammer introduced other members of the prosecutor's office present: Trish Hayek (director of the victim services unit), Deputy Chief of County Detectives Matthew Paley, victim witness advocate Christy Gardner and community outreach staffer Rich Cornett.
The resolution was moved, seconded and adopted by roll call without recorded opposition.
