The Board of Aldermen on March 25 approved Resolution 2025-05-4 granting a conditional use permit to permit a 1,065-square-foot accessory dwelling unit (ADU) as part of a 1,579-square-foot accessory structure at 30 Southmoor Drive.
Staff said the Plan Commission and Architecture Review Board considered the application on March 3 and unanimously recommended approval with two conditions; staff recommended the aldermen accept the recommendation. The property is zoned R-1 (large-lot single-family dwelling district). The aldermen opened a public hearing; the applicant was present but did not offer additional testimony. Several aldermen confirmed site-access arrangements (drive access via Big Bend) during discussion.
The board closed the hearing, moved and approved the resolution by voice vote. The resolution grants a conditional use permit for the ADU and approved the architectural plans as recommended by the plan commission.
What this does: The approval allows an attached accessory dwelling unit meeting the CUP conditions and the ARB-approved plans to proceed through permitting and construction under the city's zoning and building-permit processes.
