The Tiverton School Committee voted unanimously to approve a three‑year contract between the district and the NEA representing teachers covering the 2025–2028 period.
Committee members said the agreement was reached after discussions in executive session and commended the district negotiation team and NEA leadership for a collaborative process. The chair thanked negotiating members and acknowledged teachers “for recognizing our budget constraints,” saying the contract includes “a very light increase in this coming school year at 1.5%, which is by far the lowest increase of any town employee.”
A committee member moved to approve the contract; after a brief acknowledgment of legal counsel who assisted with language, the motion passed unanimously.
The committee did not disclose negotiation details in open session beyond the term and percentage increase; members said they had reviewed the contract in advance and thanked staff and the attorney for work to finalize language.
