Sequim to receive $555,000 in Opportunity Fund support for Reservoir Road water main, booster station design

County staff told the Board of Commissioners on May 12 that an Opportunity Fund grant agreement will provide $555,000 to the City of Sequim for design and survey phases of the Reservoir Road water main and booster station expansion project.
The project will add a new booster pump station, a pressure‑reducing valve station and roughly 2,700 linear feet of combined 16‑ and 12‑inch transmission main in southwest Sequim to create new pressure zones and serve future residential development; staff said the current planed capacity could accommodate roughly 2,400 potential housing units when fully built out.
County staff said the agreement responds to Resolution 116 (December) and that Sequim has signed the agreement; commissioners will be asked to sign the agreement at the May 20 meeting. The city described the $4.5 million plan‑level cost estimate for construction and said the $555,000 would fund design and survey needed to advance the work.
Commissioners confirmed the county’s prior Opportunity Fund support and discussed that additional construction funding will be sought through other grants or combined sources after final design. The board indicated support for the design grant and preservation of the county’s role in enabling infrastructure to support private housing development.
