Peninsula Behavioral Health (PBH) told the Clallam County Board of Commissioners on May 12 that it has expanded staffing and youth services and plans to pursue a mobile crisis outreach endorsement while cautioning that potential federal changes to Medicaid could reduce capacity.
The update matters because PBH is the county’s largest behavioral health provider, serving substance use and mental health clients across Clallam County, and many of its programs — including crisis response, jail reentry support and planned permanent supportive housing — depend on Medicaid and grant funding.
Wendy Sysk, chief executive officer of Peninsula Behavioral Health, told commissioners PBH has grown from about three staff at its founding in 1971 to more than 140 today and now offers a wide range of services, including adult and children’s therapy, crisis stabilization, psychiatric medication evaluation, substance use disorder treatment and housing supports. “We…
