The board approved a 3500 Chevy cabin-chassis for the sign truck (Capalino Chevrolet) at $46,472.88; a Chevy Silverado 3500 regular cab work truck (Capalino Chevrolet) at $48,008.93; a similar truck with a 2,000-pound lift gate for heavy equipment (Capalino Chevrolet) at $52,002.33; and a double-cab 2500 for the parks department (Chevrolet of Smithtown) at $47,004.94. Board members noted the purchases replace vehicles ranging from 2003 to 2015 and that the town intends to reuse plows and sanders when possible and to auction replaced vehicles in the fall.
Highway superintendent (presenter identified in meeting) said the sign-truck body will be transferred to the new chassis and the old vehicle will be auctioned; members moved and passed separate motions for each vehicle purchase on voice votes.
