Town clerk travel: The board authorized Town Clerk Angela to attend the New York State Town Clerks Association conference in Syracuse, April 27–30, and to support a possible additional attendee, Kate, contingent on scholarship decisions. The clerk estimated combined costs for both attendees at about $1,500; the board approved the authorization on a motion from Jack and seconded by Sarah.
Tuition reimbursement: The board authorized a tuition reimbursement arrangement for Nora (a town staff member) for work toward a master’s degree at Buffalo State University, subject to standard contract conditions: reimbursement after course completion and a requirement that the employee remain employed with the town for three years, per union contract rules. The motion was made by Sarah and seconded by Bernard and carried.
Minutes and other routine business: The board approved the March 10 meeting minutes and approved amended minutes for the January 13 meeting (an omission of the Tompkins County consortium was corrected). Motions to accept the minutes were moved and seconded and carried.
Food truck exception for May 31: The board discussed a broader draft permitting regime for food trucks and approved a one-time exception to allow a food truck at a DeWitt Rotary event scheduled for May 31. Board members asked staff to tailor permit language and suggested conditions (the board discussed recommending no alcohol sales for the event); the motion to allow the May event was made by Jack and seconded by Bernard and carried.
Executive session: The board voted to enter executive session to discuss contracting issues, potential litigation and personnel matters; the motion was moved by Max and seconded by Joe and approved.
