Trustee asks board to add Lakeside Apartments Section 8 voucher issue to next agenda

At the close of the May 8 Affordable Housing Trust Fund meeting, a trustee asked that the board add an agenda item for the next meeting to address reports that relocation offers tied to Section 8 vouchers at Lakeside Apartments had stalled.

Trustee Joanna (surname not provided) told the board that residents were told they could choose a Section 8 voucher as part of relocation benefits during phased construction, but that some residents later were told funding was not available. She said many people had contacted her seeking help and asked the board to request an update.

Jeanette (city staff) said she had a meeting scheduled with the Lakeside developers the following week and would seek clarification about whether the issue involved project-based vouchers, tenant-based vouchers or a different relocation arrangement. Trustee Jim noted that proposed federal budget changes were being discussed nationally but that congressional appropriations determine final funding; he advised clarification rather than assuming the presidential budget proposal had already taken effect.
