Fried stated he and his contractor had tried patching methods previously and that the stone portions are crumbling beyond practical repair. There were no public comments on the item.
The commission found the proposed replacement appropriate for the Crown Hill Historic District and approved both a certificate of appropriateness for the new stair assembly and a demo‑delay waiver for the existing stairs. The approval instructs the applicant to build the stair with pressure‑treated framing and gray composite decking as presented.
Owners may proceed with the replacement under the conditions approved at the meeting.
