Suffern board accepts two volunteer firefighters, authorizes UTV trailer use and confirms part-time fire inspector

The Village of Suffern Board of Trustees on July 28, 2025 accepted two new volunteer members into the volunteer fire company and authorized the Suffern Fire Department to use the village UTV trailer to transport equipment for a department outing.
The board approved motions to accept Kenneth Dodson and Yitruk (spelled in the record as Yitruk/Yitchook) Niemann as new members of Volunteer Hose Company No. 1. The motions were moved and seconded and approved by voice vote.
The board also authorized the Suffern Fire Department to use the village UTV trailer to transport barbecue equipment, tents and other items for a department outing in Lake George from Thursday, June 5 to Sunday, June 8 (dates provided in the meeting record). Trustee Corrigan moved the authorization; the motion passed by voice vote.
In addition, Mayor Crowley asked the board to confirm the appointment of Derek Peltz as a part-time fire inspector; the appointment was confirmed by vote. The mayor noted that county confirmation is required before the inspector begins service.
Trustees and attendees offered congratulations and thanks to department members and volunteers. No stipend or contract details were discussed at the meeting.
