Proponents argued a comprehensive study is necessary to identify root causes and to make shovel‑ready designs that improve the village's chances for construction grants. Trustees noted potential grant opportunities tied to shovel‑ready projects and discussed coordination with a county and state pipeline of stormwater and complete‑streets work on Broadway that could affect downstream capacity and construction timing.
Trustees asked staff to seek additional detail from the engineer about whether the $82,500 scope could be narrowed or whether elements of the work could be bundled with other planned studies for a better price. The resolution passed 5‑1.
