Marshall City notes household hazardous waste drop-off schedule, upcoming street bids and RTS yard-waste pickup

The household hazardous waste collection is provided through the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and Region F Solid Waste Management District and takes place at the city landfill/compost area on the fourth Wednesday of each month. The council recorded the address for the drop-off and advised residents that the program is by appointment only; the Municipal Services office phone number given in the meeting was (660) 886-3945 for scheduling. The list of accepted items mentioned included oil-based paints, solvents, pesticides, certain pet treatments, rat/mouse poisons, varnishes, swimming pool chemicals, drain openers, insecticides, bleach and glue; latex paint and gasoline were specifically excluded. The meeting noted the city accepts waste oil at the Municipal Services office.
Council members also reported that bids for street work (mill-and-overlay and slurry) were out, with a bid opening scheduled about a week after the meeting; the speaker said there were four bidders for mill-and-overlay and two for slurry. The intent is to schedule the work before the school year begins if possible.
Finally, the council noted that RTS resumed yard-waste pickup as of April 1 and that the compost area returned to summer hours. Contact information and the appointment requirement were given for residents with questions.
