Highlighted projects include the 40 Fifth Street concrete pavement repair between the interstate and 30th Avenue, currently in phase 1 with subsequent phases planned later in the year; a sanitary sewer lining project focused on mainline and laterals intended to reduce the need for full sewer replacements; and multiple shared‑use path builds such as the River Drive work east of University. Staff showed images of potholing and directional drill operations used to locate utilities and install liners.
New development projects were also listed, including work north of the Amazon Dakota Commerce Center and the Interstate Business District, and a storm lift station (Lift Station 27) with 78‑inch and 60‑inch pipes under construction. Staff reported a major earthwork project in the Southwest Metro area involving about 1.5 million cubic yards of excavation.
Public Works also said an upcoming city concrete spot repair at Broadway and Second Avenue (Area 8) will begin a week from the report and will last about nine days; pedestrian detours and temporary ramps will be provided. Staff said a number of core neighborhood reconstruction projects, crack fill, mill and overlays, sidewalk replacements and storm sewer repairs are scheduled this season.
