Local domestic‑violence nonprofit describes services, says it has land for new shelter

The organization operates a confidential shelter in Warrensburg, an outreach center at 137 Colton Street, and provides housing assistance, help obtaining identity documents, licensed counseling, essential resources and support groups.
She provided 2024 service statistics: 10 sexual‑assault forensic exams, 241 survivors assisted by advocates for sexual violence (separate from domestic‑violence counts), 87 sexual‑violence hotline calls and 121 support‑group sessions. Plummer said the organization has purchased land for a new shelter and is in preliminary planning stages; she invited council members and residents to contact Survival House’s executive director to learn more.
Council members thanked the organization and its volunteers. No formal action was taken; the presentation served as information to the council and recognition coincident with Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
